San Giorgio a Lapi

The San Giorgio a Lapi farm has been in the Simoni family since 1977. It is located in the Chianti production area of Siena and has over 100 hectares of arable land. The land has been continuously cultivated since 1700. The Simoni family mainly works with vineyards and olive groves. The name for the farm comes from a nearby church called the San Giorgino church which was built in 1109 by a man named Ranuccio. It was then given to an order of Camaldonese nuns. Eventually abandoned by the nuns, the church fell into disrepair. The Simoni family bought it in 1977 and restored it in 1998.
