Taliano

The Taliano brothers are following the long family tradition of making wine from their small winery in the hills of Cuneo in the Langhe region of Piemonte. They produce about 35,000 bottles per year of high quality "boutique" wines with 10 hectares of land. Proof of the attention they give in the vineyards and in the cellar is in each bottle of this modern traditionalist wine.

2002 Barbaresco DOCG

Winemaking, Vineyards & Growing Season:
100% Nebbiolo.  The soil is a mix of calcium & clay. The vineyard is planted with 4000 vines per hectare with southern exposure. The vines are pruned using the guyot method. The grapes were harvested in mid-October. Traditional vinification with maceration is followed by 20-24 months aging in barriques. After bottling the wine is aged for another 6 months before being released.

2004 Birbet Brachetto

Winemaking, Vineyards & Growing Season:
100% Nebbiolo.  The soil is a mix of calcium & clay. The vineyard is planted with 4000 vines per hectare with southern exposure. The vines are pruned using the guyot method. The grapes were harvested in mid-October. Traditional vinification with maceration is followed by 20-24 months aging in barriques. After bottling the wine is aged for another 6 months before being released.

Wine Enthusiast Score: 88.  "Similar to Bracchetto, this is a pinkish-red slighlty sparkling wine that's sweet, but in this case, the sugar is capably balanced by a sense of minerality. Slightly floral and earthy, with flavors of dust-covered black cherries. Drink Now."
